Mrs. Vernetta S. Hinton

On June 9, 1981, in Forrest City, Arkansas, God blessed the world with the quiet and beautiful spirit of Vernetta Sheree Burton Hinton. She was born to Nancy Burgess Butler and the late Elizah Burton. Vernetta received her early education in the Forrest City School District and proudly graduated from Forrest City High School with the Class of 1999. During her high school years, she was actively involved in various clubs and activities and enjoyed representing her school as a cheerleader. Believing strongly in the importance of education, Vernetta continued her studies at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Arkansas, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Agriculture Science. Her educational accomplishments reflected her determination, dedication, and commitment to personal and professional growth. At an early point in her spiritual journey, Vernetta accepted Christ and was baptized. She became a faithful member of Cedar Grove Church of Jesus Christ, where she willingly used her time and talents in service to the Lord and others. She was a member of the choir, assisted with Youth Sunday School, and helped with Vacation Bible School. Vernetta did not have to be in the forefront to make an impact. Her quiet willingness to serve wherever she was needed spoke volumes about the kind of woman she was. On December 8, 2006, Vernetta was united in holy matrimony to Joe Martin Hinton. Their union was blessed with years of love, family, companionship, and treasured memories. Vernetta was a hardworking and accomplished professional. She established a career as a billing and coding specialist and eventually became an entrepreneur, owning her own business and working as a self-employed contractor. Her professional life reflected her independence, determination, and strong work ethic. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Vernetta’s greatest impact could be seen in the way she treated people. She simply loved helping others. Whenever a family member needed her, Vernetta was willing to lend a helping hand. She lived a quiet, humble, and giving life and found fulfillment in making a positive difference in the lives of others. Among Vernetta’s greatest joys was spending quality time with those she loved. She especially enjoyed traveling with her family, creating beautiful memories, sharing new experiences, and simply enjoying the company of those closest to her heart. On Monday, September 14, 2026, Vernetta peacefully completed her earthly journey at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, at the age of 45. Vernetta was preceded in death by her beloved son, Jaden Hinton; her father, Elizah Burton; her brother, Timothy Burgess; her paternal grandparents, Elijah Burton and Vernita Hightower Burton; and her maternal grandparents, Amos Burgess and Rosie Lee Phillips Burgess. She leaves to cherish her precious memory her devoted husband, Joe Martin Hinton; her loving children, Jahaven Hinton, Jada Hinton, and Joshua Hinton; her beloved mother, Nancy Burgess (Archie) Butler; her brother, Deldrick (Christine) Burton; her mother-in-law, Ora Dale Hinton; her brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Calvin Hinton, Xavier Hinton, and Philicia Hinton; along with her extended Burton, Burgess, and Hinton families; her Cedar Grove Church of Jesus Christ family; former classmates and colleagues; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many dear friends whose lives were made better because Vernetta was a part of them.
