Mr. Richard Hughes

Richard Hughes was born into life on February 14, 1956, to Joe Hughes, Sr., and Josephine Horton Hughes in Hayti, Missouri. He was one of eleven children, raised in a large family where faith, love, and strong values were instilled early. At a young age, Richard accepted Christ and carried that foundation of faith throughout his life. He attended Rosa Fort School in Tunica, Mississippi, where he developed a reputation as a hardworking and dependable man. Richard dedicated many years of service to his community. He worked as a bus driver for the public school system for 22 years and was known for his commitment, rarely missing a day of work. He also served in medical transportation, ensuring others were cared for with compassion and reliability. In addition, Richard was a professional chef who shared his talents at various casinos, with his final employment being with Holiday Inn, where he faithfully served until his retirement. Richard wore many hats throughout his life as a devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He loved his family deeply and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. In his quiet moments, he enjoyed sitting outside, watching the day go by, and reflecting on life. Richard was born into eternity on February 3, 2026, in the comfort of his home in Madison, Arkansas, surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Hughes, Sr.; his daughter, Terita Jones; his sister, Josephine Barry; his brother, Leroy Hughes, Sr.; and his grandson, RaShawn Hughes. He leaves to cherish his precious memories his loving and devoted wife of over forty years, Sharon Jones Hughes; his mother, Josephine Horton Hughes; his mother-in-law, Joann Collins; his children, Rachel Hughes and Amelia Hughes; his grandchildren, Alexzander Hughes, Benard Pearson, Trysten Hughes, JaQuaze Kavon George, JaQuazia Sammone George, Allen Richard Hughes, Ladarius Kamron Taylor, Trayvon Nicholas Taylor, Brooklyn Grace Taylor, Sadacia Funches, and Ellis Funches; his great-grandchild, Monicita Baldez; his brothers, Joe Hughes, Jr., John Hughes, Billy “Malik” (Jeanetta) Muhammad, and R.H.; his sisters, Catherine Harris, Evelyn Davis, Linda (Ronnie, Sr.) Hood, and Martha Conley; two granddaughters-in-law, Jocelyn Williamson and Akeyla Baldez; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends.
