Mr. Joseph Lee "Pooh-Pooh" Winfrey

Joseph Lee “Pooh Pooh” Winfrey was born on January 4, 1955, in Forrest City, Arkansas, to the late Aldridge Blake Winfrey and Derotha Rogers Winfrey. He professed his faith in Christ at an early age at New Sardis M.B. Church under the leadership of Rev. J.J. Mitchell Sr., later joining Mt. Moriah M.B. Church under Bishop C. L. Moore. Joseph passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at Regional One Trauma Center in Memphis, Tennessee. A highly skilled OTR truck driver, Joseph drove for United Van Lines for many years in Texas and also operated out of St. Louis, Missouri. His career included driving school buses for the Forrest City School District, working at Airtherm and Boar’s Head factories in Forrest City. After retirement, he proudly owned and operated Pooh’s Lawn Service until his passing. Joseph married his long-time sweetheart and crush, Stella Hill-Winfrey, on December 15, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, Aldridge and Derotha Winfrey; his brother, Danny Ray Winfrey; his sister, Donna Nicole Winfrey; his paternal grandparents, Alexander and Arrie Winfrey; his maternal grandparents, Albert and Viola Rogers; and his parents-in-law, Clenzy and Geneva Rodgers. Joseph leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Stella Hill-Winfrey, of the home; four daughters, Jacqueline Jones and Gwendolyn Jones, both of West Memphis, AR, Christina Jones of Jonesboro, AR, and Ruby Winfrey of Forrest City, AR; three sons, Marcus (Nakeyia) Mitchell of O’Fallon, IL; Ronnie (Laquintha) Henderson, Jr. of Little Rock, AR; and Marc Favors of Houston, TX; twelve grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Stanley Winfrey and Adrian (DaVida) Winfrey, both of Forrest City, AR; three sisters, Rose Winfrey and Malissa Winfrey, both of Forrest City, AR, and Tammy (Lee) Ducksworth of Hattiesburg, MS; one brother-in-law, Robert D. Rodgers of West Memphis, AR; three sisters-in-law, Patricia Jones and Mary Rodgers, both of Kansas City, KS, and Betty (Larry) Hughes of Colt, AR; one uncle, Harold (Doris) Rogers of Widener, AR; two aunts, Dorothy (Arthur) Phillips of Bellevue, NE, and Ora Scott of Colorado Springs, CO; a special friend and work partner, Mattie Perkins; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and classmates. Joseph “Pooh Pooh” Winfrey will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
