Miss Johnnie Mae Scott Mickens

Mrs. Johnnie Mae Scott Mickens, 75, of Forrest City, Arkansas, gently laid down the cares of this life and entered into eternal rest on February 17, 2026, at the home of her beloved daughter in Conway, Arkansas. She was born on August 9, 1950, in Forrest City, Arkansas, to the late John Henry Scott and the late Lucille Tomlin Mickens. From an early age, Johnnie Mae’s life was anchored in Christ. She confessed a hope in Him at Summerfield Missionary Baptist Church, beginning a lifelong walk of faith that guided her through every season of her life. She later united with Saints’ Temple Church of God in Christ, where she served faithfully for many years under the anointed leadership of Pastor Dr. Lewis Bingham. Her life was a living testimony of quiet strength, enduring grace, and unwavering trust in the Lord. She believed that through prayer, love, and kindness, God’s light could shine in every situation. Johnnie Mae was a proud graduate of Lincoln High School, Class of 1969, and furthered her education at East Arkansas Community College, where she earned an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice. She was employed for many years at Sanyo Manufacturing Company until its closing. She walked in integrity and demonstrated a spirit of excellence and dedication in all she did. She found joy in the simple yet sacred blessings of life. She had a special love for flowers, seeing in them the beauty of God’s handiwork. She delighted in helping others and never turned away anyone in need. She also enjoyed collecting cherished items and traveling from place to place in search of special treasures that brought her happiness. In her quiet moments, she enjoyed watching television and spending time in peaceful reflection. She loved people, truly loved them, regardless of how she was treated, reflecting the unconditional love of Christ. Her family and friends were her heart, and she poured into them a love that was pure, steadfast, and whole. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Mary Alice Mickens, Diane, and Wilma Jean; and her brother, Carl Henry Scott. She was also preceded in death by those she was reared with as siblings, her nieces and nephews, Edward Nash, Robert Mull, Michael Mull, Johnny R. Mull, Brenda Mull Funches, and Diane Mull Roach. Yet we do not sorrow as those who have no hope, for we know that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Cherishing her precious memories and carrying her legacy of faith and love are her devoted children, Phyllis E. Mickens McDonald (Kenneth), Gregory Smith (Stephanie), and Andrea Key (Christopher); ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; her loving sisters, Gustavia Byrd, Joyce Fisher, Cliffie Jean Scott, Patricia Smith (Larry), Sharon Brooks, Alberta, and Patricia Scott Byers; her nephew reared as a brother, Ressie Don Mull, Sr. (Darlene); a special friend with whom she shared many cherished memories, Charles Caldwell; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends. Her life was a garden of kindness, her hands were instruments of service, and her heart was a dwelling place for God’s love. Though she has exchanged her earthly house for a building not made with hands, eternal in the heavens, her gentle spirit will continue to bloom in the lives of all who knew and loved her. “Well done, thy good and faithful servant… enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.”
