Mr. Eric Jerome Avant

Mr. Eric Jerome Avant was born on July 18, 1965, in Forrest City, Arkansas, to Clifton Avant and Essie Mae Hancock Avant. On Monday, July 20, 2026, Eric peacefully departed this earthly life at the age of 61. Eric was reared in Forrest City in a home where faith, family, and strong values were an important part of his upbringing. At an early age, he accepted Christ and was baptized at Taylor's Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal (CME) Church. The Christian foundation established during his youth remained a meaningful part of his life's journey. Eric received his early education in the Forrest City School District and proudly graduated with the Class of 1983. During his younger years, he developed a special love for basketball. Whether playing the game or simply enjoying the sport, basketball remained one of his favorite pastimes. Following his graduation from high school, Eric answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Air Force. He served faithfully until receiving his discharge. His military service was another chapter in a life marked by determination, discipline, and a desire to accomplish meaningful goals. Believing strongly in the importance of education, Eric later returned to school to further his studies. Through dedication and perseverance, he earned multiple college degrees, including a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering. His educational accomplishments reflected his intelligence, determination, and commitment to bettering himself. After completing his education, Eric entered the workforce and enjoyed a lengthy career in the telecommunications industry, working for many years with AT&T. His professional journey allowed him to utilize his education, knowledge, and skills while building a career of which he and his family could be proud. Eric will be remembered as a man who valued education, enjoyed basketball, served his country, worked diligently, and remained connected to the family and community that helped shape his life. His journey was filled with accomplishments, experiences, and memories that will continue to live in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He leaves to cherish his precious memory his loving parents, Clifton Avant and Essie Mae Hancock Avant; his siblings, Shauna L. Clemmons and Marco T. (Charlotta) Avant; and a host of loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
