Mrs. Christine Hancock

Christine Hancock was born on September 28, 1940, in Colt, Arkansas, to Carmen Haggans and Andrew Walker. At an early age, she was lovingly adopted by David and Lydia Gray, also of Colt, where she gained three loving siblings: Mae Bell Houston, Estella Brown, and Hosea Gray, all of whom preceded her in death. Christine was blessed with nieces and nephews, Barbara Brown (d), Lena Hutchins, Larry and Nate Houston, Archie, and Herman Davis (d), who held special places in her heart. In her adult life, she received the blessing of three additional siblings. She was also blessed with one living aunt, Josephine Drake, who remained dear to her heart. On January 12, 1959, Christine married the love of her life, Joy Lee Hancock, and the two remained devoted to one another throughout her lifetime. Their union was blessed with nine children whom she loved dearly. Five children predeceased her: two infants, Darlene and Ivory, as well as three sons, Joy Lee Hancock, Jr., Reginald Hancock, and Frederick Hancock. Christine spent her life as a stay-at-home wife and mother, pouring her heart into raising her family and supporting her husband. Her faith was a guiding force in her life. She had a strong belief in God and was a faithful member of Greater Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church. She loved serving in the choir where she led two of her favorite songs, In Times Like These and Oh, Won’t He Keep You. She cherished her daily phone conversations with her friends, many of whom preceded her in death, and maintained those bonds with warmth and loyalty, including three living friends: Lou Marie McDaniel, Dethenia Miller, and Mae Dean Wilson. She loved the Dallas Cowboys. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Joy Lee Hancock; her children: Marilyn Warmack of Garland, Texas; Joyce (Bob) Maiersperger of Wylie, Texas; Carol (Carl) Williams of Forrest City, Arkansas; and Deshmund (Angela) Hancock of Jacksonville, Florida. Special sons: Wayne Hancock of Colt, Arkansas; Gerald Tyler of Rockford, Illinois; and Dwight Smith of Forrest City. Bonus daughters: Ann Hamilton, Jackie Hancock, Clarice Hancock, and Veronica Tyler, who preceded her in death. Her grandchildren include Wayne Hancock, Adria Warmack Smith, Stefanie Hancock, Chelsey Hancock, Joseph Williams, Demareus Hancock, Amariya Hancock, Joy Lee Hancock III, Jared Hancock, Miriam Hancock, Tony White, Nicole Gupton, Treyvon Tyler, and Tyrell Tyler. Three grandchildren also preceded her in death: Justin Williams, Reggie Hancock, Jr., and Keisha Hancock. Her great-grandchildren are Andre Hancock, Corbin Hester, Chandan Hester, Mingell Ballard, Camden Hancock, Kahlani Hancock, Leilani Hancock, Amir Hancock, Ace Hancock, Adrian Hancock, Serinty Hancock, Jayden Hancock, Joi Hancock, Emori Hancock, Tyrell Tyler, Jr., and Yassir Tyler, along with several additional bonus grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by several cherished in-laws, cousins, and other loving relatives and friends. Christine’s life was marked by devotion, gentleness, and steadfast love. Her presence will be deeply missed, and her memory will remain a blessing to all who knew her.
