Mother Myrtle White

Myrtle Louise Dulaney White was born June 5, 1932, to Rev. Alexander Houston Dulaney and Mrs. Luella Eckford Dulaney in Forrest City, Arkansas. She is the seventh of ten children. Myrtle was a graduate of Lincoln High School. Myrtle married James White, Jr. in 1954 and to this union four daughters were born: Linda Cheryl, Dolores Venita, Lorie Jane, and Debra Marie. Myrtle was actively involved in working for the Lord even after she became ill. She was a member, a Sunday School Teacher and regularly participated in the Women’s Missionary Union at Prosperity Missionary Baptist Church. Later, she attended Day Temple COGIC. Lastly, she became a member of Stanley Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Eastern Star. Myrtle really, truly LOVED her daughters. There wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do for them. She enjoyed and complimented her girls for singing and saying speeches at Church, at school, and at community events. Myrtle always kept a fresh pitcher of Tang in the refrigerator for her grandchildren. She enjoyed visiting her daughters in their homes. But Oh, How she talked about her sisters’ vacation to Las Vegas. Myrtle, Ethel, Bessie, Veola, and Alma traveled by Amtrak. What a Time! Myrtle enjoyed watching Game Shows and Soap Operas. Her community and jobs/works ran together in serving others to glorify God. For a number of years, she worked for Kilgore’s Cleaners, Realtoc, and another Forrest City business which were sewing manufacturing Co. She attended Henderson State College’s Headstart Training and received her certification and worked in Forrest City Public Schools Headstart Program. Finally, she worked for the Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service where she helped families strengthen and improve their lives. She encouraged so many children and families to take care of themselves in nutrition and health in-home sessions. She also encouraged her clients to help others in any way they could. These activities/works, she did all to glorify our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Through her faith she knew God wanted her to stay at home to keep her children and grandchildren close. She was preceded in death by her Mom and Dad; Two brothers - Edward “Son” Dulaney and Samuel Benton “SB” Dulaney; six sisters – Lula Bell “Sister” Dulaney, Veola Ross, Bessie Johnson, Iola Williams, Ethel “Babe” James, and Alma Dulaney. She leaves to cherish her memories to one amazing sister, Claudine Dulaney; Ex-husband “about 45 years of marriage”, James White, Jr.; Four daughters: Linda (Mack) Peoples of Little Rock; Dolores (Kenneth) Young of Forrest City; Lorie (Larry) Huff of Fayetteville; and Debra (Albert) Sims of Forrest City; Eleven grandchildren: Macadda Peoples, Dionisha Davis, Kameisha Davis, Lorinda Peoples, Rachel Sims, Myrlinda Soedjede, Albert Sims, Jr., Veronica Huff, Miranda Nwosu, Veola Sims, and Kenneth Young, Jr.; Nine great-grandchildren: DhaKiya, DhaKivion, KaNeya, Bashari, Dairion, Chimaobi, Josie, Mawuli, and Nnamdi; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
