He was the youngest of eleven siblings. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers—Allen Smith, William Dawson, Freddie Smith, and Alvin Smith; and one sister—LaVerne Smith Hamilton. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and Lord at El Cannan Missionary Baptist Church under leadership of Pastor Albert McKinney, where he served as an Usher until his health failed. He attended and graduated from Palestine School, where he played basketball. He joined the Army Reserves and served for a short time. He worked at Sanyo Manufacturing and had a small yard service, where he collected many items, because he turned other men’s trash into his treasure. He was married to Pamela Taylor for 33 years, and to this union was born one daughter— Mydesha; one son—Nehemiah; one grandson—Zion Robinson; and two others he claimed as his own—Antiona Dawson and Tyesha (Terrell) Jackson. He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife—Pamela; his daughter—Mydesha (Jeremiah); his sons—Nehemiah ; and grandson—Zion Robinson; four sisters—Mary Barton of Palestine, AR, Evelyn Smith of Fort Worth, TX, Charlean Cowen of Millington, TN, Anyika Almand of Isabela, Puerto Rico; three brother s– Wilbert (Cella) Dawson, Ella (Ernestine) Smith of Palestine, and Terry (Gwendolyn) Smith of Wynne, AR; his motherin-law—Dearestine Doyal; his god-parnets—Leon and Olar Barton; god-sister—Bonita Cochran; nine brothers-in-law—Eddie Hamilton, Clarence (Carolyn) Taylor, Darrell Taylor, Corey (Gussie) Taylor, Ray Bogart, James Taylor, Stanley Taylor, Walter (Teka) Taylor, and Theo (Masheka) Taylor; five sisters-in-law—LaVerne Dawson, Barbara (Daryl) Morris, Shunda (Eric) Taylor, Latoya (Therdrick) Brown, and LaKeya Taylor; a special cousin who cared for him like a brother; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
