Mr. John David Williams

September 20, 1948 - August 13, 2020

John was born in Tillatoba, Mississippi to the late Roosevelt Williams Sr. and the late Ruthie Mae Swift Williams Bradford. He was the 4th of seven (7) children to this union in which four brothers preceded him in death, Roosevelt Jr, Leslie (Les), Joe Willie and Charles. Also, preceding him in death are his brothers, Fred and Huley and sisters, Cleotha Mae Johnson, Oistine Crowder, Winnie Mae Johnson, Christine Dumas and lastly his sister, Bessie Reed who died in the same month as John. John attended Lincoln High School until he moved to San Francisco, California, in July 1967 with his life long Friend, Johnnie Byers. He received his GED later. John like his brothers started working in the cotton fields in the Forrest City area after their mother moved them from Mississippi. John became a supervisor in the shipping and receiving department at a boat company when he moved to San Francisco,Calif. When he left San Francisco in 1985, he moved to Memphis, TN and was employed at the Army Depot until they closed. Then, he started a small lawn service business. John served his country honorably in the United States Army from 1968-1969. John leaves those who loved him and funnily nicknamed him the “Bicycle Pimp,” his brothers, Lucious Clay-LC (Loretta) Poole, Las Vegas, Nevada, Glen Earl Williams, Forrest City, AR, Sisters, Gerdine Smith, Charleston, Mississippi and Lizzie Matherson, Milwaukee, WI, daughter, Stephanie Love, Memphis, TN, two sister-in-laws, Frieda and Gwendolyn Clay Williams, Nephews, Andre, Vincent, Maurice, Jason, and niece, Tanya Williams and a host of other relatives. John quietly entered his rest after several months of illness at RiverRidge Rehabilitation Center in Wynne, AR. He had previously been cared for by his brother, Glen. He was cremated under the directions of Miles J. Kimble Mortuary & Cremation.
