Floyda received her formal education in the Forrest City Public School system, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1968. She was a catalyst who helped pave the way for the integrating of students from Lincoln High to Forrest City High School. Following high school, she attended college at the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff (UAPB). She worked at Todd Uniform for 20+years, and later was employed at Boar’s Head Provisions Co, Inc. After retiring, she voluntarily served at the St. Francis County Food Pantry. In 1973, she married Eddie Lee Williams Sr. In this union together, they raised four children: Lamar, Evetta, Angenetta, and Eddie. Floyda touched many lives with her smile, act of kindness, and her sense of humor. Her hidden talents consisted of singing and interior decorating. Everyone loved and admired her for the deep love she always had for her family and friends. Floyda was known to many as the one you could always count on. She cherished the love of her children. Her favorite quote to her children was, “to always stick together and never allow anyone to separate you all”. She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd Thurston Sr. and Ruby Thurston, her two brothers, Jeff and Robert Thurston, and one sister, Rogenia Beavers. She leaves to cherish her memory: Her loving children-Lamar (Raquel) Cole, Evetta (LaTwon) Whitby, Angenetta (Marlo) Kirkland, and Eddie (Rashonda) Williams. One adopted son: James Young. Fourteen grandchildren: Demario Kirkland, TaJuan Whitby, Kiya Kirkland, Cabrasha Campbell, Jasmine Williams, Lamarika Cole, Kayla Kirkland, JaJuan Whitby, Trevion Williams, Errington McRae, Eddie Williams III, Cortazshia Lipford, Haston Cole, and Riley Williams. Ten great grandchildren: Da’marrian, Trinstin, Kailee, Kingstin, Royaltee, Kiley, Kaylee, Treasure, Ja’Nova, and Javion Jr. Adopted grandchildren: Ladarius and Journey Townsend. Three sisters; Sheila Woods, Teresa Washington, and Benita Meeks. One brother: Floyd Thurston Jr. Three sister/cousins: Betty Cummings, Cassie Lewis and Murla Williams. Two sisters-in-law: Gloria McKissick and Linda Thurston. One brother-in law-Archie Beavers. One special friend: William Isom Jr. One lifelong best friend: Emma Jacks-Allen and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
