Mr. Nathaniel Williamson Jr.

Nathaniel Williamson was born on December 5, 2008, in Forrest City, Arkansas, to Nathaniel Williamson Sr. and Lakisha Barber. Affectionately known as Lil Nate, he was a bright light in the lives of those around him. In 2016, he was baptized by Pastor Anthony King at Faith International Church in West Memphis, marking a significant moment in his spiritual journey. Nathaniel started school in Forrest City, moved to Fayetteville for a time, and returned to Forrest City High School in January 2025. He was a talented athlete—shining on the track team and preparing to be a starting cornerback for the Mustang football team. Lil Nate was a joyful soul who lit up the lives of everyone around him. From a young age, Nathaniel was driven by a passion for sports, always ready for a game or an adventure that would bring a smile to his face and a thrill to his heart. He had an unyielding love for good food, enjoyed chatting with friends on his phone, and cherished moments spent with his family, especially during vacations by the water. At home, Nathaniel was calm and easygoing, but at school, he was an outgoing and kind friend who was beloved by his classmates. His laughter and vibrant personality drew people in, and he had a unique ability to make everyone feel included and valued. Whether it was playing video games, going to the movies, or just chilling at home, Nathaniel embraced every moment with enthusiasm, especially if it involved a bit of excitement that would send his mother into nearly a heart attack! Nathaniel’s love for his family knew no bounds. Even when his siblings frustrated him, he adored them fiercely—especially his sisters, Miss Arizona and Miss Phoenix. He stood up for his brothers, Lavontae and Phat, despite their playful bickering, proving he was the real deal when it came to being a brother’s keeper. He was undeniably a mama’s boy, sharing spirited debates over the simplest things, making each interaction memorable. Lil Nate transformed from a quiet boy into a vibrant teen who spent his days outdoors and immersed in the fast-paced world around him. He was one of a kind, and his spirit will forever be etched in the memories of those who knew and loved him. We celebrate Nathaniel’s bright and adventurous spirit, forever inspiring us to embrace life’s joys and challenges with love and laughter. Lil Nate was once a quiet little boy, but upon entering high school, he blossomed into an outgoing young man who embraced life outdoors every day. His mother experienced a mix of emotions—happy and sad— as a protective parent. While she worried, she also cherished witnessing his growth as he opened up and forged friendships. In Fayetteville, Arkansas, Nathaniel built one of the best circles of friends imaginable. He was a bright, athletic, and handsome young king, beloved by all. His vibrant spirit and genuine kindness touched the lives of so many, and he will be truly missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Nathaniel passed away on July 2, 2025, at his home in Forrest City. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Tommy Lee Moore. He is survived by his mother, Lakisha Barber; his father, Nathaniel Williamson Sr.; his brothers, LaVontae Lee Barber and Natorian Ke’Shon Williamson; his sisters, Phoenix Dominique Barber and Arizona Denise Barber; his grandmothers, Pamela Denise Barber and Dorothy Jean Williams; his grandfather, Johnny Hardaway Sr.; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, classmates, and friends. Nathaniel’s bright smile, sporting talent, and big heart touched everyone he met. Though he is gone too soon, we will always remember his kindness and joy for life.
