Mr. Maurice Kentrell Lacy

A Time to Be Born: On August 21, 1986, at 12:30 a.m., a baby boy was born to Leroy Sylvester Lacy, Sr. and Margaree Boyd Lacy at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City, Arkansas. They named him Maurice Kentrell Lacy, affectionately known as “Kent.” He was the youngest of five children. A Time to Grow: Kent was raised in Forrest City, Arkansas, where he attended the Forrest City School District and graduated from Forrest City High School in 2004. During his school years, Kent was an outstanding Colt and Mustang football player who truly enjoyed the game. Kent had plans to attend the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and continue playing football. He also dreamed of one day owning a construction company. Although life took him in a different direction, he continued moving forward. Kent briefly attended East Arkansas Community College. Kent was a kind and loving person who generally stayed to himself and bothered no one. He was also a slick jokester who could deliver a joke with a straight face as though nothing had happened. One of his daily rituals was calling his late uncles, Claude, Jr. and Joe, every morning at 6:00 a.m. He also faithfully checked on his mother, often calling to say, “I’m just checking on you,” and sometimes asking if she would Cash App him a little money for an energy drink. Kent had a genuine love for his family and shared a particularly close relationship with his brother, Micah Keon. Like many, Kent faced challenges throughout his life, but those who loved him saw his efforts and remained by his side. Kent was a member of Zion Temple Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the late Pastor/Superintendent J. E. McFadden. Later, his father, the late Elder L. S. Lacy, Sr., founded a church in Rondo, Arkansas. Kent attended there, served as Sunday School Superintendent, and faithfully performed whatever duties his father assigned him. The saints of the church adored Kent and often spoke of what a sweet young man he was. He later united with New Beginning Fellowship Ministries under the leadership of his uncle, Joe King. Kent loved the church, enjoyed attending services, and willingly helped with the weekly cleaning. Kent was employed with the Madison Street Department under Mayor Roy Winfrey and enjoyed his employment there. A Time to Die: On Sunday evening, July 19, 2026, sometime between 7:42 and 8:06 p.m., Kent completed his earthly journey and entered into eternity. As his family reflects upon his life, they cherish the memories, laughter, love, and special moments that will forever remain in their hearts. A Time to Remember: Kent was preceded in death by his father, Leroy Sylvester Lacy, Sr., and his brother, Leroy “Shottie” Doyle. A Time for His Legacy to Live On: Kent leaves to cherish his unforgettable memories his mother and Mr. Roy; brothers, Leroy, Jr., Micah Keon, and Marcus Khristopher; sister, Laveta Sylvonya (Dwight); nephews, Tre, Dale, and Dwight, Jr.; nieces, Alexandria, Andrea, and Devin; great-nephews and niece, Isaiah, Robert, Jr., Xayden, and Jada; special cousins, Jay, Michael, Tamika, Shirlitha, T.J., Tyreka, KiKi, Gabby, Lil D, Tre G, Kailee B., and Charles; uncles and aunts, Elder Timothy, Deborah, Tiny, and Shirley; brother, Terance; sisters, Jennifer and Whitney; special friends, Chief Greg Martin, Lonnie Johnson, Jimmy Kilgore, Joyce Jeffrey, Mr. George Cochran, and Mr. Bobby Adams; godparents, Charles Borders and Earnestine Jackson; goddaughter, Roya Hamilton; and many other relatives and friends.
