Miss Lillie Mae Green

Miss Lillie Mae Green, 73, of Forrest City, Arkansas, peacefully departed this life on Monday, August 3, 2026, in Memphis, Tennessee. She was born on March 10, 1953, in Forrest City, Arkansas, to Winzell Green and Mirdell Cotton Green. Lillie was lovingly raised by her devoted aunt and uncle, Frank and Mary Alice Green, who nurtured and guided her throughout her childhood. She attended DeRossitt Elementary School and later Lincoln High School, where she received her education. A hardworking and compassionate woman, Lillie was employed for many years as a domestic worker, faithfully serving families with dedication, kindness, and integrity. She found great joy in caring for others and was well known for her love of cooking, cleaning, fishing, and caring for the elderly. She also loved babysitting children, opening her heart and home to those who needed her. Lillie was a very giving and kind person whose life reflected compassion and selflessness. She continued doing the things she loved and serving others faithfully until her health began to fail. Lillie accepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of Spring Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where she worshipped until her health failed. She was known for her quiet strength, loving heart, and unwavering care for those around her. One of her greatest joys was helping to raise C.J. Powell and Denise Johnson, whom she loved dearly and cared for as her own. Lillie also shared a loving and devoted relationship with her companion, Calvin Jones, for approximately 25 years. From the time Calvin was 35 years old until his passing on September 4, 2022, they built a life filled with love, companionship, and unwavering support for one another. She deeply cherished their relationship and treasured the many memories they created together. She was preceded in death by her parents, Winzell Green and Mirdell Green; her beloved aunt and uncle who raised her, Frank and Mary Alice Green; two brothers, Leo Holmes and Otha Lee Green; one sister, Lisa Green; a cousin whom she lovingly regarded as a brother, Johnnie Coffee; her maternal grandparents, Alex and Beulah Shy Holmes; her uncle, Morris C. Holmes; and her beloved companion, Calvin Jones. Cherishing her precious memory are C.J. Powell of Iowa and Denise Johnson of Forrest City, Arkansas, whom she raised and loved as her own children; her niece, Evelyn Holmes of Rochester, New York; her nephew, Felix Holmes of Rochester, New York; her great-niece, Alexis Johnson; and her great-great-niece, Zuri Johnson of St. Cloud, Florida. She also leaves four devoted aunts: Neomia Shipmon Holmes of Rochester, New York; Annie (Frank) Cunningham of Memphis, Tennessee; Alice (Malvin) Tousant of Forrest City, Arkansas; and Shirley Anderson of Memphis, Tennessee. She leaves to cherish her memory one of her favorite sisters, Roberta Winston of Forrest City, Arkansas, along with a host of beloved cousins, cherished friends, and all whose lives were touched by her love, kindness, and generous spirit. Lillie will be remembered for her gentle spirit, humble nature, unwavering faith, and the genuine love she shared with everyone she met. She never hesitated to lend a helping hand, offer a kind word, or care for someone in need. Her legacy of compassion, service, and devotion to family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Though she will be deeply missed, her beautiful memories will forever remain a source of comfort, inspiration, and peace.
