Mrs. Glean Dean Ferrell

Mrs. Glean Dean Ferrell affectionately known to her family and close friends as “Dean” or “Cookie” was born May 5, 1956, to the late Vester and Vera Allen. She grew up in Widener, AR and later the family moved to Forrest City. Dean accepted Christ at an early age at White Rock Missionary Baptist Church in Widener, AR under the leadership of Rev Erivin. After moving to Forrest City, she placed her membership at Rising Sun Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Armstead Slayton. Glean graduated from Forrest City High in 1974, she also attended East Arkansas Community College and received an Associate of Arts with Honors in 1993 while working as a teacher assistant with Developmental Special Services with the Forrest City School District continuing her education at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, AR with a Bachelor of Science in Education in Special Education and Elementary Education with Honors in 1996 and continuing her tenure with the Forrest City School District for more than twenty five years where she touched many lives during her time teaching. Glean met and fell head over hills for Jessie Ferrell in 1970 and later joined together in marriage on July 1, 1973. To this union, they had two daughters. Glean and Jessie were added as members to the Atkins Street Church of Christ in 1986 under the leadership of Elder L.C. Mitchell and was a member there until she departed this life. She is preceded in death by her parents Vester and Vera Allen; four brothers, Troy Allen Sr., AJ Allen, Izear Allen Sr, and Vester Allen Jr.; niece, Brenda Mobley, sister in love, Pearlie Barley, and mother-in-law, Annie Jewel Austin Ferrell. Glean left a legacy and will be remembered by her husband of fifty years, Jessie Ferrell; two daughters Kylie Ferrell (Mark) and Tamara Ferrell-Killebrew (Patrick); two grandsons, Tyler Princeton Ferrell, Sr. and Kyron Markel Ferrell; one granddaughter, Te’a Lyann Ferrell-Hester; great-grandson, Tyler Princeton Ferrell, Jr., and one special granddaughter, Kacetrya Peacock; three sisters, Erma Allen, Ellen Allen, and Josephine Cobbs (Fred), brother, Settle D. Allen, one sister-in-law, Mary Ferrell (Carl Louis) of Cleveland, OH; four brothers in law, George Ferrell (Martha) of Forrest City AR, Robert Ferrell (Maxine) of Haynes, AR, Willie Ferrell (Beatrice) Forrest City, AR, and Freddie Ferrell (Barbara) of Little Rock, AR, and a host of other relatives and friends.
